PLACES TO VISIT
TABLE MOUNTAIN
Table Mountain is Cape Town’s most famous icon and, as part of the Western Cape Floral Kingdom, was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004. Towering over the city, the mountain is visible from 200km out at sea and is often covered with clouds - we call it the tablecloth. Table Mountain is home to more than 1 470 species of plant - more than in the entire United Kingdom. 200 of them are found nowhere else. Take a 10-minute cable car ride and enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain. Cameras compulsory. For the more energetic, there are a number of walks on or up the mountain, ranging from easy to adventurous. Table Mountain also offers rock climbing routes at various grades - as well as the opportunity, for the brave, to abseil off it... no wonder it’s a Top Ten Western Cape attraction. More information on Table Mountain
V&A WATERFRONT
Situated between Robben Island and Table Mountain in the heart of Cape Town's working harbour, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront has become South Africa's most visited destination. Set against a backdrop of magnificent sea and mountain views, exciting shopping and entertainment venues are intermingled with imaginative office locations, world-class hotels and luxury apartments in the residential marina. We invite you to discover the experience... live, work, shop and play at the V&A Waterfront. More information on V&A Waterfront
TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM
The southern tip of the African continent is the meeting place of two mighty and bountiful oceans, the Indian and the Atlantic. The Two Oceans Aquarium on the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town is ideally positioned to showcase the incredible diversity of marine life found in these two oceans. The Aquarium is one of the top tourist attractions in Cape Town and over 3000 living sea animals, including sharks, fishes, seals, turtles and penguins can be seen in this spectacular underwater nature reserve. Cape Town's Aquarium offers adventure diving with sharks, spectacular function and conference venues and activities for kids. More information on Two Oceans Aquarium
BLOUBERG BEACH
Blouberg Beach is situated between Big Bay and Table View Beach. The corner of the beach has some great rock pools to explore. Many photographs are taken of Table Mountain from here, with the waves splashing over the rocks and the mountain in the background. When the beach is windy, the surf is dominated by the tricks and aerobatic skills of kites surfers and boardsailors. The conditions here are ideal for these sports as it’s often quite windy and there is plenty of space along the beach to accommodate all the sailors. When the wind is calm this is a great place to relax and work on your tan.
DURBANVILLE WINE ROUTE
Durbanville is a picturesque wine region, situated 7 km from Table Bay and the beach activities of the Atlantic Ocean. The fertile soil of the rolling hills on which Durbanville is built, the warm summer days and cooler nights all contribute to making this area a prime location for wine production. It was in the early 1700's that vineyards were first established in this area. Since then, Durbanville has earned recognition within the wine fraternity for the excellent quality of its noble cultivar grapes. Many top ranking cellars have sourced the grapes for their finest marques from this area. Of the original wine farms established in this area between 1698 and 1714, some still produce top quality wines.
