Elephant Walk Retreat is set on the Crocodile River on a tranquil estate at the Crocodile Bridge entrance gate to the Kruger National Park. We are no more than 50 meters from the gate. We are the number one destination for people wishing to visit Southern Kruger and stay just outside the park.
The Southern Kruger National Park area at Crocodile Bridge argueably offers the best Game Viewing in the whole of Kruger.
A comfortable four-hour drive from Johannesburg, Elephant Walk is the perfect "stopover" on route to Mozambique, or as a destination. This superb little retreat caters for the discerning tourist and business traveller.
Elephant Walk Retreat is primarily a game-viewing destination and is the perfect base for exploring the game rich South-Eastern corner of Kruger. A luxury 10 seat game-viewer is based at the lodge and guests may elect to join Jean Graham a qualified guide for various safaris into the Park. Options include a 3 hour , 4 hour , half day and full day drives. Outstanding sightings and photographic opportunities of the "Big 5" will certainly delight our guests.
SOUTHERN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK INFORMATION
Southern Kruger is bordered in the South with the Crocodile River. There are two main entrance gates to Kruger in the South. The one being Malelane gate and the other Crocodile Bridge. Elephant Walk Retreat is situated 50 metres from Crocodile Bridge Gate.
The main rest camps in the South of Kruger are Skukuza , Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge, Pretoriuskop and Berg and Dal.
In Southern Kruger you are likely to see the big 5. A Term which refers to the 5 most dangerous animals to hunt. The big 5 comprises of:
Lion
Elephant
Leopard
Rhino
Buffalo
The most dangerous animal in Africa, the one responsible for most deaths are actually the Hippo but it is not included in the Big 5 because after being shot it tends to run into the water and not attack.
Kruger and more particularly southern Kruger offers so much more than the big 5.
One may be lucky enough to see wild dog or cheetah, both very rare in Kruger yet frequently spotted in the Crocodile Bridge area.
